What's been happening in my studio as I work towards my degree show...
Beginning January 2026, I started developing my ceramics skills while putting the finishing touches on my embroidery. So far, I have experimented with slab and coil building, as well as creating intricate works from extruded clay. As I work towards my ceramic major project for the degree show – a large puzzle of stitched together tiles stylised as fields – I am testing different glaze applications and textured effects, as well as methods of firing and positioning, working with reactive glazes and oxides to create unique effects. My experimenting has yielded as many successes as failures, but as my previous experience with ceramics is limited I am taking it all as an opportunity to learn.
